This bedroom had quite a journey from where it started as a homely living-room. This transformation happened over the course of about two weeks. Beginning with ripping up the carpets, followed by applying fabric as wallpaper for an accent wall (See my “DIY Fabric as wallpaper” post, tagged at the bottom of this post). I’m a renter and I initially planned on laying new flooring, but after seeing what was underneath this carpet, I decided to save myself the money and layer some rugs instead. (btw, my landlord gave me the okay for all these projects 😉 )

Take a look at this stunning transformation! It’s like night and day!

First things first. Get rid of this carpet!
I had no idea what was going to be hiding underneath….
Vinyl parquet….NOOOOOO! Covered in paint from when this room was initially painted by previous owners…whyyyy?
After pulling the staples and tack strips and getting the floor level/safe…. I decided, i’mma just layer some rugs.
It was a start….
This room was desperately missing something….
I decided to do an accent wall. But not with paint.
Not with wallpaper either!

It slowly started to come along.
In order to utilize some of the height in this room, I rigged this antique ladder to the wall.
….
Scored this antique foldout clothes drying rack from work (set dresser perks 🙂 )
Suspended it over my bed, and draped some fabric over it.

Started a mini gallery wall of thrifted photos/illustrations of Victorian women.
Yes, Louie (dog) and Ginnie (cat) like to crash most of my photos.

The natural sunlight in this room is incredible. I’m so glad I decided to transform it into my bedroom.
It’s come a long way….
